  El siguiente artículo se centra esencialmente en el estudio de la importancia que tiene la lectura infantil caso: Hospital “Dr. Verdi Cevallos Balda” en los niños que se encuentran hospitalizados en el mismo, siendo este un importante medio, para la evolución y el progreso en el desarrollo de los niños/as internados en el área de pediatría y así lograr mejorar su calidad de vida. El trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo principal determinar la importancia que tiene la lectura infantil, en los centros hospitalarios caso: Hospital “Dr.Verdi Cevallos Balda”, Portoviejo, Manabí, Ecuador, este propósito trae consigo como objetivos específicos el de fomentar el valor que tiene la lectura infantil para la creatividad, imaginación y recreación de los niños/as hospitalizados, además enfatizar el rol que cumplen los bibliotecarios en los centros hospitalarios y por ultimo promover en los niños el hábito e interés por la lectura infantil. Esta investigación se desarrolló mediante la metodología descriptiva, con un enfoque cuali-cuantitativo. A su vez se empleó la técnica del análisis documental pertinente para fundamentar las bases teóricas de la importancia de la lectura infantil y también se aplicó la técnica de la encuesta e historia de vida. Esta investigación dio resultados sumamente importantes para dar a conocer a la comunidad hospitalaria lo indispensable que es brindar este tipo de servicio y/o metodología a los niños hospitalizados tomando en cuenta que esto les permitirá mejorar su estado anímico siempre y cuando se tomen las medidas correctas para aplicarlo de una manera efectiva y productiva.

  IMPORTANCE OF CHILD READING IN HOSPITAL CENTERS: CASE HOSPITAL VERDI CEVALLOS BALDA PORTOVIEJO, MANABI, ECUADOR ABSTRACT The following article focuses essentially on the study of the importance of children's case reading: Hospital “Dr. Verdi Cevallos Balda” in children who are hospitalized in it, this being an important means for the evolution and progress in the development of children admitted to the pediatric area in order to improve their quality of life. The main objective of the research work is to determine the importance of children's reading in the hospital centers, case: "Dr. Verdi Cevallos Balda" Hospital, Portoviejo, Manabí, Ecuador. Furthermore, this purpose pursues as specific objectives: to emphasize the value that it has children's reading for the creativity, imagination and recreation of hospitalized children, in addition to promoting hospital services for library services related to children's reading and as a last objective to stimulate the habit and interest in children's reading. This research was developed using descriptive methodology, with a qualitative-quantitative approach. In turn, the pertinent documentary analysis technique was used to support the theoretical bases of the importance of children's reading, and the survey and life history technique was also applied. This research gave extremely important results to make the hospital community aware of how essential it is to provide this type of service and / or methodology to hospitalized children, taking into account that this will allow them to improve their mood as long as the correct measures are taken. to apply it in an effective and productive way.
