La catalogación del tejido brocado o espolinado constituye una tarea que apenas se ha abordado debidamente a causa de su complejidad y dificultad intrínseca. A partir de las noticias de archivo y de la identificación de telas de seguro origen y datación, conservadas fundamentalmente en las Islas Canarias, pero también en México y en la Península Ibérica, perseguimos definir las características técnicas y decorativas de los tejidos ricos fabricados en Sevilla durante los siglos XVII y XVIII como base para futuras catalogaciones.

Cataloguing brocade or spline fabric is a task that has hardly been addressed properly due to its inherent complexity and difficulty. Taking into account archive news and the origin and dating of the fabrics,preserved mainly in the Canary Islands, but also in Mexico and the Iberian Peninsula, we aim to define the techni-cal and ecorative characteristics of the rich fa-brics manufactured in Seville during the 17thand 18th centuries as a basis for future cata-loging.
