En este texto se analizan las interpretaciones propuestas en el mundo académico japonés durante la primera mitad del siglo XX en torno a la figura de la emperatriz reinante (jotei). El protagonismo adquirido por la mujer como principal representante político en Japón entre los siglos VI y VIII d.C. fue explicado por los especialistas nipones desde diferentes enfoques. Un análisis global de sus textos revelará, sin embargo, cómo sus respuestas deben ser contextualizadas en un marco patriarcal.
This text analyzes the interpretations made in the Japanese academic world during the first half of the 20th century around the figure of the reigning empress (jotei). The leading role acquired by women as the main political representative in Japan between the 6th and 8th centuries AD was explained by Japanese specialists from different approaches. A global analysis of their texts will reveal, however, how their answers must be contextualized within a patriarchal framework.
