Variables predictoras de la sobrecarga emocional del cuidador informal del paciente crónico

    El número de personas dependientes en los últimos así como las demandas de asistencia por parte de cuidadores in-formales ha aumentado en los últimos años. El hecho de ejercer el papel de cuidador lleva implícito el riesgo de sufrir sobrecarga emocional. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar las variables que pueden influir en esa sobrecarga. Se es-tudiaron la edad y el sexo de los pacientes y cuidadores, la profesión del cuidador, la relación entre ambos así como la patología del paciente y el grado de dependencia. Para el análisis se analizó una muestra de 70 cuidadores de pacientes ingresados en el Hospital Fundación Jiménez Díaz de Madrid durante el año 2018. El instrumento utilizado para me-dir la sobrecarga del cuidador fue la escala de Zarit y la escala de Barthel para valorar el grado de dependencia del pa-ciente.Se realizaron correlaciones entre las variables así como una regresión lineal. Los resultados obtenidos señalan al tiempo que se lleva ejerciendo el rol de cuidador como única variable predictora. Esta relación sería en sentido negati-vo. Los datos son contrarios a muchos de los estudios de la bibliograf ía revisada. El resto de las variables analizadas no tendrían capacidad de pronóstico sobre el grado de sobrecarga que puede presentar el cuidador.

    The number os dependent people in recent years as well as the demands for assistance from informal caregivers has increased in recent years. The fact of exercising the role of caregiver carries the risk of suffering emotional overload. The objetive of this work to analyze the variables that can influence this overload. The age and sex of the patients and caregivers, the profession of the caregiver, the relationship between the two, as well as the patient ́pathology and the degree of dependence were studied. Fort he analysis, a simple of 70 caregivers of patients admitted to the Fundación Jiménez Díaz Hospital in Madrid during 2018 was analyzed. The instrument used to measure caregiver overload was the Zarit scale and the Bartel scale to assess the degree os patient dependence.Correlations were performed between the variables as well as a linear regression. The resuls obtained indicate the time that the caregiver role has been exercised as the only predictor variable. This relationship would be in the negative sense. The data ara contrary to many of the studies in the reviewed kiterature.The rest of the variables analyzed would not have prognostic capacity on the degree of burden that the caregiver may present.
