Doble tentativa constituye este artículo: aproximarnos a una visión de lo que aventuro como “cine esencial” a través de In The Mood for Love, el filme de Wong Kar Wai, y procurar dar cuenta de la ontología del amor que el director chino-hongkonés elabora en su obra, con la ayuda del concepto de “cine esencial”.

This article constitutes a double attempt: first, through the analysis of the film In the Mood for Love, by Wong Kar Wai, it approaches to a vision of what I propose as “essential cinema”; and second, by applying this concept it tries to account for the ontology of love that the Chinese-Hong Kong director elaborates throughout his work.
