Resumen de Turismo accesible, el caso de haciendas chocolateras de Tabasco, México

  El artículo versa sobre el turismo accesible para personas con discapacidad y para los adultos mayores. El objetivo fue evaluar las características y condiciones de accesibilidad en las instalaciones y en el servicio de dos haciendas agroturísticas localizadas en el municipio de Comalcalco, Tabasco; que están especializadas en el turismo alternativo mediante la oferta de recorridos en plantaciones de cacao y en la explicación del proceso de producción del chocolate. La metodología desarrollada tiene un enfoque mixto. La recopilación de datos requirió de la aplicación de dos instrumentos: una entrevista de corte cualitativa realizada a los responsables de los centros turísticos y una lista de verificación de indicadores de accesibilidad, con orientación cuantitativa. Como resultado, se observó que pese al reconocimiento de las necesidades que tienen los adultos mayores y las personas con discapacidad que visitan el municipio, la oferta turística incumple con la mayoría de las ocho características de accesibilidad evaluadas: entradas y rutas, áreas de servicios, señalización e información, personal y servicio, áreas sanitarias públicas, caminos, estacionamiento y, escaleras, rampas y ascensores. Además, se percibió cierto desinterés en mejorar las instalaciones y el servicio que ofrecen dichos prestadores turísticos, aunado a una recurrente inconformidad sobre la falta de financiamientos que les permitan invertir en las adecuaciones necesarias. Finalmente se presentan recomendaciones para la gestión del turismo accesible para personas adultas mayores y con discapacidad donde participen actores del gobierno estatal, municipal, la academia, la iniciativa privada y las cámaras y asociaciones para el desarrollo de un plan integral.

  This paper is about accessible tourism for people with disabilities and for the elderly. The objective was to evaluate the characteristics and conditions of accessibility in the facilities and in the service of two agrotourism farms located in the municipality of Comalcalco, Tabasco; both are specialized in alternative tourism by offering tours in cocoa plantations and in the explanation of the chocolate production process. The methodology developed has a mixed approach. Data collection required the application of two instruments: a qualitative interview conducted with those responsible for the tourist centers and a checklist of accessibility indicators with a quantitative orientation. As a result, it was observed that despite the recognition of the needs of older adults and people with disabilities who visit the municipality, the tourist offer fails to comply with most of the eight accessibility characteristics evaluated: entrances and routes, service areas, signage and information, personnel and service, public sanitary areas, paths, parking and stairs, ramps and elevators. In addition, a certain disinterest in improving the facilities and the service offered by these tourism providers was perceived, coupled with a recurring disagreement about the lack of financing that would allow them to invest in the necessary adjustments. Finally, recommendations are presented for the management of accessible tourism for older adults and people with disabilities where actors from the state and municipal governments, academia, private initiative, and associations should participate in the development of an action plan.
