    José Ferragut Pou (1912-1968) es uno de los profesionales más relevantes de la arquitectura mallorquina de mediados del siglo XX y, sin embargo, una figura poco trabajada por la historiografía. El vacío se hace especialmente notorio en lo que se refiere a tipologías turísticas, sobre las que suelen pesar numerosos prejuicios, sobre todo si son obras de figuras alejadas de las grandes capitales y focos de formación. Frente a la estandarización y repetición, ensaya composiciones contemporáneas que no excluyen una aparición puntual de eclecticismos e introduce tipologías novedosas en las Islas Baleares, como los apartamentos turísticos. En el terreno del urbanismo, propone ordenaciones para áreas de turismo intensivo a la vez que se posiciona en contra de los excesos territoriales y los abusos de poder, en el marco de una isla todavía deslumbrada por la llegada de visitantes. La aproximación al material de archivo de Ferragut y el análisis de sus proyectos para el turismo muestran cómo su voluntad de renovación y contemporaneidad manifiesta en otros de sus edificios se hace extensiva al ocio.

    José Ferragut Pou (1912-1968) is one of the most relevant architects of Majorcan architecture in the middle of the 20th century, but he has remained out from historiographical analysis. The blank becomes especially obvious when it comes to tourist typologies. They usually carry the weight of prejudice, particularly if they have been designed by architects working far from the main cities. Opposing to standardisation and repetition, he tries contemporary compositions without excluding a spark of eclecticism. He also introduces new building typologies in the Balearic Islands, such as apartments. Concerning urbanism, he proposes intensive tourist areas and, at the same time, he criticises the territorial excesses and abuse of power, in the setting of an island that is still dazzled by the arrival of visitors. The approach to the Ferragut archive materials and the analysis of his tourism projects shows that his will of renovation and contemporaneity, clear in other buildings, is also applied when it comes to leisure projects.
