    The Lebanese folk music is a very rich heritage that comes with all aspects and stages/periods of life of the country. Dates back to Phoenician times, it was transmitted orally and are shared with neighboring countries. We are wonder if the folk song and traditional liturgical chant of the Maronite Church comes from the same source or if one drew the other. However, with new communication technologies and modernization, and migration to cities and outside the country, does this folklore would retain its authenticity and completeness? The exploitation of folk music in modern Lebanese music at same time enriches him and assumes his identity. But, it could endanger its authenticity?

    Le folklore musical libanais est un patrimoine très riche qui accompagne tous les aspects et les étapes de la vie du pays. Il remonte au temps des Phéniciens et est transmis oralement et partagés avec des pays voisins. Nous pensons que le chant folklorique et le chant liturgique traditionnel de l’Église Maronite proviennent d’une même source, ou si l’a été puisé de l’autre. Cependant, avec les nouvelles technologies de communication, de modernisation et avec la migration vers les villes et en dehors du pays, ce folklore pourra-t-il conserver son authenticité et son intégralité? L’exploitation du folklore dans la musique libanaise moderne enrichit cette musique et lui assume son identité. Mais, elle pourrait aussi présenter un danger sur son authenticité?
