Resumen de Entorno institucional en terapia ocupacional: una mirada histórica.

  En el entorno institucional ha jugado un papel fundamental para la prestación de los servicios de Terapia Ocupacional. A pesar de ello, no ha sido siempre considerado ni conceptualizado del mismo modo, sino que dicho concepto ha ido variando conforme ha evolucionado y se han ido adoptando nuevos paradigmas propios de la disciplina. OBJETIVO: Definir y conceptualizar el concepto de entorno institucional a lo largo de la evolución histórica y del paradigma propio de la Terapia Ocupacional, desde los inicios de la profesión hasta la actualidad. METODOLOGÍA: Revisión bibliográfica a partir de diferentes fuentes bibliográficas. RESULTADOS: El concepto de “entorno institucional” no ha sido definido ni conceptualizado del mismo modo a lo largo de la historia de la terapia ocupacional, sino que se ha visto fuertemente determinado en función del paradigma de la disciplina adoptado en cada momento. DISCUSIÓN: A pesar de la evolución conceptual del término a lo largo de la historia de la disciplina, en la actualidad sigue siendo un concepto complejo difícil de delimitar que se encuentra interrelacionado con una pluralidad de aspectos propios también del contexto y el entorno donde los profesionales de terapia ocupacional prestan sus servicios.

  The institutional environment has played a fundamental role in the provision of Occupational Therapy services. Despite this, it has not always been considered or conceptualized in the same way, but this concept has been changing as it has evolved and new paradigms of the discipline have been adopted. OBJECTIVE: Define and conceptualize the concept of institutional environment throughout the historical evolution and the paradigm of Occupational Therapy, from the beginning of the profession to the present. METHODOLOGY: Bibliographic review from different bibliographic sources. RESULTS: The concept of «institutional environment» has not been defined or conceptualized in the same way throughout the history of occupational therapy, but has been strongly determined based on the paradigm of the discipline adopted at each moment. DISCUSSION: Despite the conceptual evolution of the term throughout the history of the discipline, today it remains a complex concept that is difficult to define and is interrelated with a plurality of aspects that are also specific to the context and environment where professionals of occupational therapy provide their services.
