Resumen de Verdaguer en italià i en occità: dues traduccions i una dedicatòria inèdites

En gener de 1885 l’escriptor català Francesc Matheu posà en marxa l’edició d’un magne àlbum artístic titulat Charitas. Catalunya-Andalusia, els beneficis del qual anirien destinats als damnificats dels terratrèmols esdevinguts a Andalusia durant el Nadal de 1884. Amb aquest objectiu, demanà la col·laboració d’artistes, intel·lectuals i polítics de tot Europa. Per diverses circumstàncies, però, l’àlbum no arribà a veure la llum. I és així que entre el material que restà inèdit es compten tot tipus de contribucions literàries, com ara una traducció en italià i un altra en occità de dues poesies de Jacint Verdaguer, una composició lírica dedicada al gran poeta català i diversos autògrafs romanesos. Són els documents –de dimensió internacional– que rescata i analitza el present article.

In January 1885 the Catalan writer Francesc Matheu launched the edition of a supreme volume, titled Charitas. Catalunya-Andalusia. The benefits of its sales would be allocated to the victims of the earthquakes that occurred in Andalusia during the Christmas of 1884. To this end, he asked for the collaboration of artists, intellectuals and politicians from all over Europe. Due to various circumstances, however, the volume was not published in the end. Among the materials that remained unpublished, there are all kinds of literary collaborations, such as a translation into Italian and another one into Occitan of two poems by Jacint Verdaguer, a poem dedicated to the great Catalan poet and several Romanian autographs. These are the documents of international dimension that this article rescues and analyzes.
