Felidae familiak hiru ordezkari izan zituen Bizkaian, Aro Modernoaz geroztik: ipar eta iberiar katamotzak eta basakatua. Katamotzen populazio egonkorra, ekialdeko, hegoaldeko eta mendebaldeko muturretan kokatua, desagertu egin zen XIX. mendeko hirugarren hamarkadan. Basakatua, aldiz, espezie arrunta izan zen, baina gainbeheran dago, eta lurraldean modu irregularrean banatzen da.
During the early modern period in Biscay, the Felidae were represented by three animals: the Eurasian lynx, the Iberian lynx, and the wildcat. Due to being pushed aside to the eastern, western, and southern extreme points, the lynx became no longer an established population during the third decade of the 19th century. The wildcat, however, was a common species, though in regression and irregularly distributed throughout the territory.
