Resumen de Cuatro artículos de costumbres de Alberto Blest Gana: crónicas de época sobre una constitución familiar "ideal"

  El propósito de este artículo es estudiar el rol de cronista de Alberto Blest Gana durante el inicio de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, el cual ha sido invisibilizado, atendiendo a su éxito como novelista. En el marco del estudio de la formación de la crónica en Latinoamérica, esta investigación busca revisar cuatro artículos de costumbres del autor, considerando su carácter híbrido por cuanto develan características propias de la crónica, no solo en cuanto a fechas, sino también, en la forma de tratar ciertos temas propios de su tiempo. En este sentido, uno de los asuntos expuestos en los documentos revisados es el registro de la formación familiar de su época, particularmente de aquellas que pertenecen a la clase social oligárquica y que se presentan como un modelo ejemplar de la sociedad chilena del momento. Considerando cuatro artículos publicados durante 1859 en La semana, se propone que estos se presentan como una crónica de la formación familiar ideal (obligada) de la clase social favorecida en ese entonces.

  The purpose of this article is to study Alberto Blest Gana’s role as a chronicler during the beginning of the second half of the 19th century, which has been overlooked due to his success as a novelist. In the context of the study of the formation of the chronicle in Latin America, this research seeks to review four sketches of manners by the author, representative of his work as a writer of sketches of manners, noting the proximity that this genre has with the chronicle, not only in terms of dates, but also in the way of dealing with certain issues of that time. In this sense, one of the issues exposed in the documents reviewed is the register of the family formation of that time, particularly those families that belong to the high social class and that are presented as an exemplary model of the Chilean society of that time. From four articles published in 1859 in La Semana, it is proposed that the publications “Algunos Matrimonios”, “Los padres y los padrinos”, “Poesía y Familia. Artículo doméstico”, “Los novios. Segundo estudio de algunos matrimonios” are presented as a chronicle of the ideal (obligatory) family formation of the upper social class of that time.
