    En el presente artículo se discuten las posiciones generadas en torno a las Nuevas Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (NTIC), pero sobre todo la Internet y las redes sociales. Dichas posiciones se han movido en los extremos, o sea, entre los que piensan que su irrupción es la peor desgracia que le podía suceder a la humanidad y los que consideran que representa un salto copernicano que sólo puede traer cosas extraordinarias que ni siquiera alcanzamos a atisbar en todo su potencial. Contrariamente a ello, el autor sostiene que permanecer en los extremos de la discusión en lugar de permitirnos entender en su justa dimensión el papel y el alcance de las NTIC nos aleja de ese propósito.

    This paper discusses the positions generated around New Information and Commu-nication Technologies (NICT), but above all the Internet and social networks. Such positions have moved at the extremes, that is, among which think that their break through it is the worst misfortune that could happen to humanity and those who con-sider it to represent a Copernican leap that can only bring extraordinary things that we do not even reach to glimpse into its full potential. Contrary to this, the author argues that stay at the extremes of the discussion rather than allowing us to understand in its right size the role and scope of the NICT takes us away from that purpose.
