    Durante una semana, entre el 11 y el 17 de octubre de 1872, el arsenal de Ferrol fue ocupado por un grupo armado de republicanos radicales (del denominado «grupo intransigente»), que proclamaron en su interior la república federal, se apoderaron de varias unidades navales y detuvieron incluso al capitán general del departamento y al comandante general del arsenal. La sublevación fue rápidamente controlada por las fuerzas del último gobierno de la monarquía de Amadeo de Saboya, pero sería la antesala de posteriores sublevaciones de los republicanos en los siguientes meses, entre otras, de la de noviembre de ese mismo año y de la posterior «sublevación cantonal» del verano de 1873. El artículo describe los antecedentes y principales acontecimientos de esta sublevación armada de octubre de 1872, así como sus repercusiones y consecuencias.

    For a week, and between October 11 and 17, 1872, the Naval Arsenal of Ferrol was occupied by an armed group of radical republicans (of the socalled “intransigent group”), who proclaimed the Federal Republic inside and seized of various naval units, arresting even the Captain General of the Department and the Commanding General of the Arsenal. The uprising was quickly controlled by the forces of the last government of the Monarchy of Amadeo de Saboya and would be the prelude to subsequent uprisings by the republicans in the following months, among others in November of that same year and the subsequent “Cantonal Uprising”. of the summer of 1873. The article describes the background and main events of this armed uprising of October 1872, as well as its subsequent repercussions and consequences.
