  • The essay proposes a reasoned lecture of a recent volume written by Elio Dovere. It deals with the connectins between «christian thought» and «production of the ius» during the 5th Century AD. The essay especially expresses, in the final part, an «independent» comment regarding the balance and the foresight that are able to distinguish the policy implemented by Teodosio II when he published his opus magnum. They ostensibly – after more than three centuries – seem to characterise also some crucial decision dated back to Carlo Magno’s incoronation age.
