el Grupo de investigación de la Universidad Antonio de Nebrija en Seguridad, Gestión de Riesgos y Conflictos ha tratado de conocer los problemas y conflictos que se puedan derivar del empleo del idioma entre los inmigrantes y la población autóctona en la Comunidad de Madrid. En el marco de ese esfuerzo colectivo, este trabajo se dirige a profundizar en la labor de los Centros de Participación e Integración de Inmigrantes (CEPI) -que son instituciones puestas en marcha por la Comunidad de Madrid para la integración lingüística de los inmigrantes- en las tareas de prevención, detección y canalización de problemas y conflictos derivados del empleo del idioma. Se deduce de las entrevistas que hemos realizado con responsables de los CEPIs y de las respuestas a los cuestionarios que hemos recibido tanto por parte del personal de estas instituciones como de los propios inmigrantes, que el empleo del idioma español, o más bien la ausencia de conocimientos del mismo, genera importantes problemas en la vida diaria de los inmigrantes. Así, se han resaltado problemas serios en el ámbito laboral o para acceder a los servicios sanitarios, lo que ha revestido tintes dramáticos en algunos casos durante la pandemia. Al mismo tiempo, hemos podido apreciar en nuestra investigación que no hay conflictos migratorios reseñables en Madrid por motivos lingüísticos. A pesar de ello, destacamos que se aprecia frecuente litigiosidad, tanto en Madrid como en el resto de España, en cuanto a los recursos por denegación de la nacionalidad española causada por desconocimiento del idioma español por parte de los extranjeros, que es uno de los requisitos fijados por la normativa actual para conceder la nacionalidad, el nivel más alto de la integración en cualquier sociedad. En nuestra opinión, el trabajo de los CEPIs contribuye de manera destacable a evitar conflictos migratorios graves y a resolver los lógicos problemas que el desconocimiento del idioma plantea a las personas que vienen a vivir y trabajar a Madrid desde el extranjero.

The Antonio de Nebrija University's Research Group SEGERICO has sought to understand the problems and conflicts that may arise from the use of language between immigrants and the native population. Within the framework of this collective effort, this paper aims to examine in depth the work of the Centres for the Participation and Integration of Immigrants (CEPI) in the tasks of prevention, detection and channelling of problems and conflicts arising from the use of language. It can be deduced from the interviews we have conducted with the heads of the CEPI and from the answers to the questionnaires we have received both from the staff of these institutions and from the immigrants themselves, that the use of the Spanish language, or rather the lack of knowledge of it, generates important problems in the daily life of immigrants. Thus, serious problems have been highlighted in the field of employment or in accessing health services, which has taken on dramatic proportions in some cases during the pandemic. At the same time, our research has shown that there are no notable migratory conflicts in Madrid for linguistic reasons. Despite this, we note that there is frequent litigation, both in Madrid and in the rest of Spain, regarding appeals for refusal of Spanish nationality due to foreigners' lack of knowledge of the Spanish language, which is one of the requirements set by current regulations for granting nationality. In our opinion, the work of the CEPI contributes in a remarkable way to avoid serious migratory conflicts and to solve the logical problems that the lack of knowledge of the language poses to people who come to live and work in Madrid from abroad.
