    Por primera vez, con documentos inéditos procedentes de diferentes archivos públicos y privados, y en el contexto de la protección y salvación del tesoro artístico, histórico y bibliográfico encabezado por el gobierno de la II República, se presenta, en cuatro episodios, el periplo de la búsqueda, incautación, evacuación y recuperación del ‘códice único’ del Cantar de mio Cid durante los años de la Guerra Civil (1936-1939). Este manuscrito, depositado actualmente en la Biblioteca Nacional (BNE), con signatura Vitr. 7/17, estuvo bajo la custodia de la familia Pidal durante más de un siglo, entre 1851-1960, período durante el cual tuvo lugar esta historia.

    For the first time, around the protection and salvation of the artistic, historic & bibliographical Spanish treasures made by the Second Spanish Republic, with unpublished documents from several public and private archive collections, we present in four episodes the history of the search, seizure, evacuation and recovery of the unique manuscript of Poem of the Cid during the years of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). This manuscript, deposited since 1960 in the National Library of Spain (BNE), with call number Vitr. 7/17, was in the custody of the Pidal family for over a century, between 1851-1960, and in that period this history occurred.
