Aborto no contexto do movimento feminista: comparando Brasil e Uruguai

    O presente artigo pretende reali-zar um estudo comparativo sobre o aborto no Brasil e no Uruguai, a partir da pers-pectiva do movimento feminista, sendo este entendido como um movimento social. Nes-se sentido, a escolha dos países destacados para o estudo proposto guarda relação com a ideia de comparar a atuação do movimen-to feminista em ambos, para avaliar a conse-quência de tal atuação na posição que cada país adota quanto à permissividade legal e social do aborto. Os países eleitos para a comparação feita acabam se aproximando sob o ponto de vista das disputas territoriais que envolveram seus respectivos colonizado-res, o que viabiliza a pesquisa, pois embora o estudo comparativo se baseie, sobretudo, no estudo das diversidades, não se compa-ram duas situações absolutamente diferen-tes, nem inteiramente idênticas. A hipótese testada é a seguinte: o modo como o Brasil e o Uruguai encaram o aborto tem uma ligação direta com a diferença na atuação dos movimentos feministas dos dois países. O método eleito para a construção do artigo foi a pesquisa bibliográfica, uma vez que, a divisão do texto acaba dialogando com esse método, a partir do objetivo geral de com-preender a evolução do que já foi publicado a respeito da permissividade do aborto, no contexto da atuação do movimento feminis-ta no Brasil e no Uruguai. Nas considerações finais é retomada a proposta introdutória do artigo, chegando-se à conclusão de que a hipótese levantada é parcialmente verdadei-ra, tendo em vista que a dinâmica dos mo-vimentos sociais normalmente atua com a resistência de contramovimentos, e, no caso específico dos países cotejados, a formação histórica deles e o grau de secularização de cada um influenciou fortemente no atendi-mento ou não da demanda feminista pela permissividade do aborto. Com isto, não ne-cessariamente a diferença quanto à atuação do movimento feminista nos dois países é o que caracteriza o entendimento diametral-mente oposto que eles adotam com relação à permissividade do aborto.

    This article intends to carry out a comparative study on abortion in Brazil and Uruguay, from the perspective of the feminist movement. In this sense, the choice of the countries highlighted for the proposed study is related to the idea of comparing the performance of the feminist movement in both, in order to evaluate the consequence of such performance in the position that each country adopts regarding the legal and social permissiveness of abor-tion. The countries elected for the compari-son end up approaching from the point of view of the territorial disputes that involved their respective colonizers, which makes the research possible, because although the comparative study is based, above all, on the study of diversities, two situations that are neither absolutely different nor entirely identical are compared. The hypothesis tested is the following: the way Brazil and Uruguay view abortion has a direct connec-tion with the difference in the performance of the feminist movements of the two coun-tries. The method chosen for the construc-tion of the article was the bibliographical re-search, since the division of the text ends up dialoguing with this method, based on the general objective of understanding the evo-lution of what has already been published regarding the permissiveness of abortion, in the context of the feminist movement’s work in Brazil and Uruguay. In the final considerations the introductory proposal of the article is taken up again, reaching the conclusion that the hypothesis raised is par-tially true, bearing in mind that the dynam-ics of social movements normally act with the resistance of counter-movements, and, in the specific case of the countries collated, their historical formation and the degree of secularization of each one strongly influ-enced the attendance or not of the feminist demand for the permissiveness of abortion. With this, not necessarily the difference as to the performance of the feminist movement in the two countries is what characterizes the diametrically opposed understanding that they adopt regarding the permissive-ness of abortion.
