Si los estudios sobre el siglo xviii español brillaron por su ausencia en la primera mitad del siglo XX, la carencia de estudios sobre las mujeres ilustradas fue aún más llamativa. Pero esa falta de atención empezó a cambiar poco a poco. La revista Dieciocho. Hispanic Enlightenment, fundada en 1978, aceleró el ritmo de publicaciones sobre la mujer y, como se detalla aquí, se convirtió en una referencia indespensable para el redescubrimiento y análisis del trabajo intelectual de la mujer dieciochesca.

If studies on the Spanish eighteenth century were, in general, notable for their absence in the decades preceding the middle of the twentieth century, the absence of studies on women were even more striking. But that lack of attention gradually began to change. The journal Dieciocho. Hispanic Enlightenment (founded in 1978) sped up the rhythm of publications on women and, as detailed here, became an indispensable site for the rediscovery and analysis of the work of eighteenth-century women.
