Resumen de Metais e sua ação estrogênica em neoplasias mamárias: uma revisão integrativa da literatura entre os anos de 2011 a 2020

Exposure to chemicals in everyday life is widespread and one of the main sources of these agents is the wide range of cosmetic products, which contain metalloestrogens. Some studies have shown that exposure to these metals can increase your risk of developing breast cancer. Thus, the objective was to make a survey in the literature on metalloestrogens and their relationship with breast cancer. A survey was conducted at PubMed (National Library of Medicine), in August 2020. In this, the following descriptors present in the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) were used: “Breast Neoplasms”, “Cosmetics”, “Antiperspirants” and “Metals”, combined by the Boolean operator “AND”. As inclusion criteria, studies were adopted, available in full, in the English language, being published between 2011 and July 2020, presenting at least two of the selected descriptors, with content related to the objective of the study. From the analysis of the data, it appears that there are controversies about the influence of metals on cancer, but most of the results of studies report a positive relationship, while only one research found evidence of this association. Among the metals with estrogenic actions found in the literature, the following stand out: Pb, Fe, Ni, Al, Hg, Cr and Cd. The need to seek substitutes for metals that can be used with the same efficiency as excipients without causing damage is highlighted. , or even, aggravate the risk of cancer.

A exposição a produtos químicos na vida cotidiana é generalizada e, uma das principais fontes desses agentes é a vasta gama de produtos cosméticos, os quais possuem os metaloestrogênios. Alguns estudos tem mostrado que a exposição a esses metais pode aumentar o risco de desenvolver câncer de mama. Dessa forma, objetivou-se fazer um levamento na literatura sobre os metaloestrogênios e sua relação com o câncer de mama. Foi realizado um levantamento na PubMed (National Library of Medicine), no mês de agosto de 2020. Nesta, foram utilizados os seguintes descritores presentes no Medical Subject Headings (MeSH): “Breast Neoplasms”, “Cosmetics”, “Antiperspirants” e “Metals”, combinados pelo operador booleano “AND”. Como critérios de inclusão, foram adotados estudos disponíveis na íntegra, no idioma inglês, sendo publicados entre 2011 e julho de 2020, apresentando pelo menos dois dos descritores selecionados, com conteúdo relativo ao objetivo do estudo. A partir da análise dos dados, contata-se que existem controvérsias sobre a influência dos metais sobre o câncer, mas a maioria dos resultados de estudos relatam uma relação positiva, enquanto apenas uma pesquisa encontrou evidências dessa associação. Dentre os metais com ações estrogênicas encontrados na literatura destacam-se: Pb, Fe, Ni, Al, Hg, Cr e Cd. Ressalta-se a necessidade de buscar substitutos aos metais que possam ser empregados com a mesma eficiência dos excipientes sem causar danos, ou até mesmo, agravar o risco de câncer.
