    El presente artículo ofrece un estudio del origen, empleo y momento actual de la investigación forense nuclear, como disciplina responsable del examen de materiales nucleares y radiactivos fuera de control con el fin de poder atribuirles un origen. La utilización de esos materiales por parte de organizaciones terroristas es considerada como una grave amenaza para la paz y la seguridad. Precisamente el conocimiento de la procedencia de estos materiales permite la adopción de medidas de seguridad o la modificación y adaptación de las existentes con el fin de evitar su desaparición de las localizaciones en las que deben estar custodiados y su eventual empleo por parte de grupos terroristas.

    This article offers a study of the origin, use and current moment of nuclear forensic investigation, as a discipline responsible for examining nuclear and radioactive materials out of control in order to attribute an origin to them. The use of these materials by terrorist organizations is considered a serious threat to peace and security. Precisely the knowledge of the origin of these materials allows the adoption of security measures or the modification and adaptation of the existing ones in order to avoid their disappearance from the locations where they must be guarded and their eventual use by terrorist groups.
