  Se confirma la presencia de una especie del género Alsodes en la Isla Grande de Chiloé, sur de Chile, con evidencia morfológica y filogenética. La especie fue identificada como Alsodes valdiviensis y registrada en las cercanías de la ciudad de Castro, lo cual extiende su distribución geográfica en 157 km al sur de la población más meridional conocida hasta ahora, Cordillera del Sarao, Región de Los Lagos. Este trabajo despeja las dudas sobre los registros históricos inciertos y confusiones taxonómicas acerca de la existencia de representantes del género Alsodes y su verdadera identidad, en la Isla Grande de Chiloé.

  The presence of a species of the genus Alsodes is confirmed on the Isla Grande de Chiloé, southern Chile, with morphological and phylogenetic evidence. The species was identified as Alsodes valdiviensis, registered in the vicinity of the city of Castro, which extends its geographical distribution by 157 km to the south of the southernmost population known so far, Cordillera del Sarao, Los Lagos Region. This work clears the doubts about the uncertain historical records and taxonomic confusions about the existence of representatives of the genus Alsodes and their true identity, in the Isla Grande de Chiloé.
