New record on the geographic distribution of Bolitoglossa Eremia (Plethodontidae) in the Subtropical Humid Forest of Jalapa, Guatemala

    Bolitoglossa eremia es una especie de salamandra distinguida por su pequeño tamaño, manos y pies no completamente palmeados, y una cola relativamente corta. En la parte superior de la cabeza, el dorso del cuerpo, cola y extremidades tiene es de color gris con blanco. Es una especie endémica y aislada de la región del Cerro Miramundo en Jalapa y habita en bosques montanos a elevaciones de 2360 – 2600 msnm. Reportamos dos nuevos registros de B. eremia, un juvenil y un adulto, en las cercanías de un río durante un muestreo de herpetofauna realizado en la Reserva Comunitaria Bosque Encantado en la Aldea Ladinos Pardos el 21 de octubre del 2019 a 2306 msnm. Los individuos fueron registrados a 10 km de distancia del registro reportado en La Soledad, Jalapa. Los individuos fueron liberados donde fueron localizados posterior a la toma de medidas morfométricas y toma de fotografías.

    Bolitoglossa eremia is a species of salamander distinguished by its small size, not completely webbed hands and feet and a relatively short tail. On the top of the head, the back of the body, tail, and extremities is gray with white. It is an endemic and isolated species from the Cerro Miramundo region in Jalapa and inhabits montane forests at elevations of 2360–2600 meters above sea level. We reported two new records of B. eremia, a juvenile and an adult, in the vicinity of a river during a herpetofauna sampling carried out in the Bosque Encantado Community Reserve in the Aldea Ladinos Pardos on October 21, 2019, at 2306 meters above sea level. The individuals were recorded 10km away from the record reported in La Soledad Grande, Jalapa. The individuals were released where they were located after taking morphometric measurements and taking photographs.
