Resumen de Da Augusto a Tiberio, da otium a secessus: L’evoluzione del ruolo dell’isola di Capri quale residenza imperiale attraverso le evidenze archeologiche
The island of Capri is a privileged field for the study of the architectural conceptions and sculptural decoration of the early imperial age. The stay of Augustus and Tiberius transformed a marginal site amongst the settlements of the ancient Campania into an exclusive holiday resort. The presence of the two emperors is deeply antithetical from a historiographical point of view. Therefore, this paper offers a more accurate framework about the antiquities of Capri related to the imperial properties. Moreover, the paper analyses the evolution of the site during the transfer from Augustus to Tiberius, with the aid of the archaeological evidence, in particular the sculptural decorations.
