    This article aims to discuss the links that Kenneth White’s geopoetics has with ecology. The latter is indissolubly connected to our first and fundamental condition of being human on earth, as is poïesis, which refers to the movement of creation after analyzing the potentialities of the poïêtes (craftsmen, manufacturers and poets), who give shape and meaning to the world. This meaning of poïesis is found in literary writing, and specifically in the relationship between human beings and the earth (geo). In this light, the literary space would be the place from which we can look at our way of being in the world and meditate on it. Since the end of the 1970s, Kenneth White has championed this view of geopoetics, a perspective that helps rethink the relationship between humans and earth in order to make it as intelligent as possible. Concordantly, we hypothesize that geopoetics showcases this bond as both aesthetic and ethical towards the environment and ecological in its philosophical sense. Aesthetics and ethics are thus assembled and aligned to eventually deploy an ecological conscience fruit of a meditation on the world, nature and otherness.

    Cet article propose de discuter des liens que la géopoétique de Kenneth White entretient avec l’écologie. Cette dernière a tout à voir avec notre condition première et fondamentale d’être humain sur la terre, au même titre que la poïetique, qui renvoie au mouvement de création, après analyse des potentialités par le poïêtes (artisan, fabricant et poète) qui donne forme et sens au monde. Cette signification de la poïetique se retrouve dans l’écriture littéraire et notamment celle du rapport entre les êtres humains et la terre (geo). L’espace littéraire serait alors le lieu d’où l’on peut regarder notre manière d’être au monde et méditer sur elle. C’est en ce sens que Kenneth White entend la géopoétique depuis la fin des années 1970, à laquelle il donne pour intentionnalité de repenser le rapport entre l’humain et la terre, afin de le rendre le plus intelligent possible. Nous émettons alors l’hypothèse que la géopoétique met en lumière un rapport à la fois esthétique et éthique à l’environnement, qui s’avère écologique en son sens philosophique. L’esthétique et l’éthique sont ainsi assemblées et mises au même niveau dans l’intentionnalité que se déploie une conscience écologique, fruit d’une méditation sur le monde, la nature et l’altérité.
