Serviços ecossistêmicos culturais em áreas protegidas: uma revisão da literatura

    The ecosystem services express the multiple benefits provided by the ecosystems to society. In the specific case of cultural services, the emphasis is on the role of nature in generating non-material benefits, such as leisure, recreation, tourism, spirituality, health, environmental education. Despite its relevance, this theme is not sufficiently studied by academia and there are knowledge gaps that need to be closed to understand better how people recognize and interact with nature. The Cultural Ecosystem Services (SEC being the original acronym, in Portuguese) carry great subjectivity, be it for the diversity of people's perception and the intangibility of green areas, especially legally protected ones. Inspired by this scenario, this study aims to recognize the state of the art in researches about cultural ecosystem services. One focus is the approaches adopted, the typology of green areas studied, and the representation of protected areas in the context of such researches. The investigation methods used are also of importance, as well as the chronological distribution of publications and existing gaps or breakthroughs in the area. This investigation involved a bibliometric study using national and international databases about cultural ecosystem services, through accessing articles from Brazil and abroad, published from 2006 on. The results show that studies on SEC are still incipient, especially concerning protected areas. One of the justifications for this scenario is the difficulty to assess and appraise such services since they are related to the contact and perception of each individual with the natural environment, one's desires, motivations, and recreational benefits, such as leisure, aesthetic and spiritual.

    Os serviços ecossistêmicos expressam os múltiplos benefícios prestados pelos ecossistemas à sociedade e, no caso específico dos serviços culturais, a ênfase recai sobre o papel da natureza em gerar benefícios de caráter não material, como lazer, recreação, turismo, espiritualidade, saúde, educação ambiental. Apesar da relevância, essa temática é pouco trabalhada pela academia e há lacunas de conhecimento para uma melhor compreensão de como as pessoas reconhecem e se relacionam com a natureza. Os serviços ecossistêmicos culturais (SEC) possuem uma grande subjetividade, pela diversidade de percepções das pessoas e pela intangibilidade dos benefícios das áreas verdes, e em especial, daquelas legalmente protegidas. Inspirados nesse cenário, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo reconhecer o “estado da arte” das pesquisas sobre serviços ecossistêmicos culturais, em termos de enfoques adotados, tipologia de áreas verdes estudadas e a representatividade das áreas protegidas no âmbito dessas pesquisas, bem como os métodos de investigação mais utilizados, a distribuição temporal das publicações e as lacunas e avanços existentes. A pesquisa envolveu um estudo bibliométrico em bases nacionais e internacionais sobre serviços ecossistêmicos culturais, por meio do levantamento de artigos nacionais e internacionais, publicados a partir de 2006. Os resultados evidenciam que são ainda incipientes as pesquisas sobre SEC, sobretudo em sua relação com áreas protegidas. Uma das justificativas para esse cenário é a dificuldade de apreensão, mensuração e mesmo valoração de tais serviços, já que estão relacionados com o contato e percepções de cada indivíduo com o ambiente natural, seus anseios, motivações e benefícios recreativos, de lazer, estéticos e espirituais
