L’escrit exposa les principals lectures o interpretacions modernes que s’han fet del Fileb de Plató tot situant-les en relació amb dos eixos i tres nuclis temàtics. Els eixos són, per una part, les lectures doctrinals, les quals acostumen a accentuar excessivament la distància entre la filosofia i l’acció dramàtica del diàleg i, per l’altra, les lectures que pretenen superar aquesta distància i que sovint es decanten per una lectura més escèptica del diàleg. D’altra banda, els nuclis temàtics (que de fet són el resultat de certes lectures doctrinals i també de la manera com es constitueix la tradició filosòfica) són la qüestió ètica o relativa al bé; la qüestió ontològica o relativa als principis; i, finalment, la qüestió metodològica.

The paper exposes the main modern readings of Plato’s Philebus. It places them in relation to two axes and three ways of approaching the dialogue. The axes are, on the one side, the doctrinal readings, which often emphasize excessively the distance between philosophy and the literature or dramatic action in the dialogue; on the other side, the readings that aim to bring down this gap, often offering a more skeptical reading of the dialogue. The three ways of approaching the dialogue (which are actually the result of some doctrinal readings which have to be also understood throught the philosophical tradition) are: the ethical approach of the dialogue concerning the good in human life; the ontological approach concerning the principles; and, finally, the methodological approach.
