  La temática rural, percibida como escenario de aplicación de diversas políticas y territorio de interacción de actores sociales varios, plantea una situación compleja, que pretende ser sistematizada y actualizada por el coordinador del volumen XI de los XVI que conforman la obra "Los Grandes Problemas de México", al comenzar el siglo XXI, a fin de coadyuvar al conocimiento de la sociedad mexicana y sus problemas, al tiempo que se conmemora, desde el ámbito académico, el bicentenario de la independencia y el centenario de la revolución mexicana.El libro consta de una introducción general, que retoma elementos de cada uno de los cinco capítulos del libro, que de manera conjunta proporcionan un panorama general en torno a algunos de los puntos neurálgicos de la llamada economía rural, a saber: políticas públicas y cambio estructural, derechos de la propiedad de la tierra, uso y degradación del suelo, emigración rural, y la identificación de las determinantes de la migración interestatal.

  The rural topic, perceived as the scenario for applying diverse policies and the terrain for interaction of various social actors, brings up a complex situation that attempts to be systematized and actualized by the coordinator of Volume 11 of the 16 that make up the work "The great problems in México", at the beginning of the 21st Century, with the aim of contributing to the knowledge of Mexican society and its problems, at a time when the bicentennial of the Independence and a century since the Mexican Revolution are being commemorated.The book includes a general introduction that presents elements from each of the five chapters in the book, which jointly provide a general panorama of some of the most important points of the so-called rural economy, that is: public policies and structural change, rights of land ownership, use and degradation of land, rural migration, and identification of the determinants in inter-state migration.
