En este libro se aborda el vínculo entre agricultura y migración como un fenómeno que se ha acentuado a partir de la ausencia de políticas agrarias que impulsen el fomento sostenido de la agricultura campesina. Este tipo de agricultura ha estado históricamente en una persistente crisis; aún no resuelta por las reformas estructurales, cuya “válvula de escape†–apunta Estuardo Lara Ponce en el Prólogo– es la migración como una fuente alterna de ingresos para sobrevivir y paliar potenciales tensiones sociales y políticas.

The link between agriculture and migration is approached in this book, as a phenomenon that has been accentuated by the absence of agrarian policies that drive the sustained development of peasant agriculture. This type of agriculture has been historically in a persistent crisis that has still not been resolved by structural reforms, whose “escape valve†–as pointed out by Estuardo Lara Ponce in the Prologue– is migration as an alternative source of income for survival and to alleviate potential social and political tensions.
