Resumen
Our concerns on mental health issues have intensified due to the involvement in a European projectwhose main objective is the insertion on the labour market and in the society of youth suffering from a mental condition. The follow up of this project is another project having as target group the elderlysuffering from a mental condition. After documentation and study of field literature, we have identified some aspects which are relevant for the mental health issue in Romania. Although substantialprogress in this field has been made in Romania, socio-professional insertion of these people remains an issue and the aim of the current project is exactly this aspect. We believe that social reinsertion leads to a faster and more efficient recovery. Another aspect identified by us in studies in this field but also from practice refers to insufficient knowledge of the characteristics of mental conditions, hencestigmatization and prejudices. The purpose of our research is to warn and to make people aware ofthe importance and sensitiveness of mental disabilities. However, like any other disease, it is curableif the intervention is made using specific tools and methods adapted to each person suffering froma mental condition.
