    La entrada en vigor de la LORE ha dado lugar a un amplio debate social y doctrinal acerca la legalización en España de la eutanasia, sobre todo existiendo otras alternativas que dese hace unos años se venían aplicando en la práctica médica para aliviar el dolor de quienes padecían una enfermedad terminal: la limitación de tratamientos de soporte vital y la sedación practicada con fines paliativos. Sobre la base de esta hipótesis el objeto de este estudio consiste en analizar el alcance y el régimen jurídico de todas ellas para dilucidar si son opciones clínicas realmente alternativas de los pacientes.

    The entry into force of the LORE has given rise to a broad social and doctrinal debate about the legalization of euthanasia in Spain, especially since there are other alternatives that have been applied in medical practice for a few years to alleviate the pain of those suffering from a terminal illness: the limitation of life support treatments and sedation practiced for palliative purposes. Based on this hypothesis, the purpose of this study is to analyze the scope and the regulation of all of them in order to decide whether they are clinical options for patients.
