    El propósito de este artículo es examinar uno de los temas más relevantes que surgen del estudio que realiza Manuel Carrasco Albano sobre la Constitución de la República de Chile de 1833, como lo fue la relación Iglesia y Estado a mediados del siglo XIX. La hipótesis que subyace en esta investigación es que cabe reconocer en el pensamiento de Carrasco Albano una postura audaz y avanzada para su época, distante de las diferentes concepciones de las élites políticas y religiosas del país, en relación al patronato y a la unión de Iglesia y Estado.

    The purpose of this article is to examine one of the most relevant issues that arise from the study carried out by Manuel Carrasco Albano on the Constitution of the Republic of Chile of 1833, such as the relationship between Church and State in the mid-nineteenth century. The hypothesis underlying this research is that it is possible to recognize in the thought of Carrasco Albano a bold and advanced position for his time, distant from the different conceptions of the country's political and religious elites, in relation to patronage and the union of Church and Condition.
