  Las Introductiones latinae de Nebrija fueron el texto dominante en el ámbito hispánico. Hay pruebas de que la obra se utilizó, no solo en España, sino que también fue empleada por los gramáticos misioneros en América. Mucho más dudoso es que la Gramática Castellana de Nebrija se conociera y se manejara suficientemente por los misioneros. La obra de Nebrija ejerce una gran influencia en muchas de las artes gramáticas de los misioneros del siglo xvi y principios del xvii. En sus obras, la doctrina, los componentes de la gramática, la organización según las partes de la oración, los capítulos sobre el nombre, sobre el verbo o sobre las figuras, todo ello revela la huella de Nebrija.Junto a la obra de Nebrija, los misioneros utilizan otras gramáticas latinas, la del P. Alvares y las Institutiones latinae del P. de la Cerda. A pesar de la influencia de Nebrija, los misioneros adaptan las categorías de la gramática latina a sus necesidades descriptivas

  Nebrija’s Introductiones latinae were the dominant text in the Hispanic sphere. There is evidence that the work was used, not only in Spain, but also by missionary grammarians in America. More doubtful is that Nebrija’s Castilian Grammar was sufficiently known and handled by the missionaries. Nebrija’s work exerted a great influence on many of the grammatical arts of the missionaries of the 16th and early 17th centuries. The doctrine, the components of the grammar, the organization according to the parts of the sentence, the chapters on the name, on the verb or on the figures, all of this reveals Nebrija’s imprint. Together with Nebrija’s work, the missionaries used other Latin grammars, that of Manuel Alvares and the Institutiones latinae of Juan Luis de la Cerda. Despite the influence of Ne-brija, the missionaries adapted the categories of Latin grammar to their descriptive needs
