    Strange Blood depicts the practice of lamb blood transfusion for human medicine that spread in various situations across Europe in the 1870s. After a historical sketch on blood transfusion, including interspecies attempts, we are introduced to three relatively marginal physicians, Oscar Hasse, Franz Gesellius and Joseph-Antoine Roussel, who were, each with their specific aims and motives, instrumental in the development of lamb blood transfusion.
