Resumen de Respondere, obnoxius, periculum: cuestiones terminológicas en materia de responsabilidad de los funcionarios en derecho romano

El término responsabilidad, aunque de raíz latina, aparece por primera vez referido a la responsabilidad de los funcionarios en Inglaterra, en el curso del debate político parlamentario del siglo XVIII (responsibility), adoptando el significado de estar sujeto a rendir cuentas o de ser moralmente imputable; sin embargo, en las fuentes romanas sí se recoge el término respondere y otras formas derivadas del mismo para referirse a la responsabilidad de los funcionarios. Asimismo, se trata en el artículo de otros dos vocablos: obnoxius y periculum, referidos a los funcionarios y empleados públicos con el sentido de ser responsables.

The term responsibility, although of Latin root, appears for the first time referring to the responsibility of civil servants in England, in the course of the parliamentary political debate of the 18th century (responsibility) adopting the meaning of to be held accountable or to be morally imputable; however, in Roman sources the term respondere and other forms derived from it are used to refer to the responsibility of officials. Likewise, the article deals with two other words: obnoxious and periculum referring to public officials and employees with the meaning of being responsible.
