La hagiografía de Santa Clara ofrece diversas aportaciones en los textos literarios del Barroco español. Uno de ellos corresponde a la Vida de la seráfica Madre Santa Clara (Va- lencia, 1703), de Sor Mariana Sallent, que tuvo otras ediciones a comienzos del siglo XVIII. Se trata de un texto en verso, que sigue el argumento general de de la Leyenda de Santa Clara (1255-1256), atribuida a Tomás de Celano, aunque ofrece interés y curiosidad por los variados recursos estilísticos que emplea, todos bastante frecuentes en el lenguaje literario de la época. El resultado es un extenso poema hagiográfico que merece más divulgación y atención crítica de las que se le han concedido en nuestros días.

The hagiography of Saint Clare includes various contributions in the form of lite-rary texts of the Spanish Baroque. One of them is The Life of the Seraphic Mother Saint Clare(Valencia, 1703), by Sister Mariana Sallent, which was also brought out in editions of the earlyeighteenth century. This is a text in verse, which follows the general narrative of the Legend ofSaint Clare (1255-1256), attributed to Thomas of Celano, but provides interest and curiosityby employing various stylistic devices, all fairly common in the literary language of the time.The result is an extensive hagiographic poem that deserves more publicity and critical atten-tion than has been given to it in our times.
