En esta recopilación de datos extraídos de casi un centenar documentos, en su mayoría inédi-tos, pretendemos mostrar y conocer la familia y ámbito local que rodeó a San Francisco Solano desdesu nacimiento. El trabajo está colmado de noticias concernientes a los perfiles biográficos y socialesde los familiares, desde los bisabuelos hasta los propios sobrinos, del que a la postre será Apóstol deAmérica. Asimismo, en este trabajo se muestra la convivencia que la familia Solano tuvo durante elsiglo XVI con los franciscanos de la villa, que bien puede despejar la incógnita sobre el ingreso del hijomenor de Mateo Sánchez y Ana Ximénez en el noviciado del convento montillano.
