    Lee Miller fue modelo de los grandes fotógrafos de su época, ícono del movimiento surrealista, una de las seis mujeres acreditadas como corresponsal de guerra y la única mujer fotorreportera activa en áreas de combate en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Su historia de vida, intensa y creativa, quedó marcada por una situación sexual traumática infantil (a los siete años fue abusada sexualmente) que devino en un ideal de belleza. Durante su actividad artística como fotógrafa llegó a descubrir la terrible verdad encubierta. ¿Pudo la fotografía actuar en el proceso de subjetivación presente a lo largo de toda la vida? Un trayecto de vida de la artista ilumina el estudio de la subjetividad en el psicoanálisis del arte. La relación trauma - belleza - verdad y subjetividad será la línea directiva del presente trabajo.

    Photography and truth in the construction of subjectivity: Lee Miller: Lee Miller worked as a model for the great photographers of her time, was an icon of the surrealist movement, was one of the six women accredited as war correspondent and the only woman to be active as a photojournalist in battlefields during the Second World War. Her intense and creative life history was marked by a traumatic childhood episode (she was sexually abused when she was seven years old), which eventually turned into an ideal of beauty. During her artistic activity as a photographer she came to disclose the terrible truth that lied behind the cover-up. Had photography a role in the subjectivation process present throughout her life? A fragment of the artist’s life journey may illuminate the study of subjectivity in the psychoanalysis of art. This paper is focused on the relationship between trauma-beauty-truth and subjectivity.
