La vivencia del espacio y la representación gráfica como herramientas del proceso de aprendizaje de la arquitectura

    A partir de una experiencia académica, este artículo ahonda en la relación entre un espacio arquitectónico, quien lo recorre y la forma en que se interpreta. ¿Qué tienen en común los dibujos de un viaje arquitectónico como el de Le Corbusier a Oriente, el libro Las ciudades invisibles de Ítalo Calvino y los croquis realizados por un estudiante durante una visita a una obra? La respuesta es que todos ellos son interpretaciones de arquitectura a través de imágenes gráficas o narradas y resultan de un recorrido por espacios, ya sean físicos o imaginados. Con base en estas premisas, se pensó el curso optativo de pregrado, denominado Cuenca 4D, en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad del Azuay. Como parte de esta asignatura, se organizaron visitas a obras de oficinas locales de renombre guiadas por sus autores, dando la oportunidad a los alumnos de tener contacto directo con arquitectura y arquitectos de calidad. Las visitas dan especial importancia a la percepción espacial individual del estudiante y su representación en dibujos. Es pertinente describir y analizar esta experiencia académica, con el fin de poder replicarla. En este trabajo además se expone la forma en la que se lleva el programa en contraste con experiencias similares.

    This article reflects on the relationship between an architectural space and who experiences it and the interpretation of this space, explained from an academic experience. What do the drawings of an architectural journey like the one Le Corbusier did to the East, the book “Invisible cities” of Italo Calvino relates and the sketches made by a student during an architectural visit? The answer is that all of them are architectural interpretations through graphic or narrated images, and they result from a journey through, whether physical or imagined, spaces. Based on these premises, the elective subject Cuenca 4D was planned at the School of Architecture, Faculty of Design, Art and Architecture of the University of Azuay. As part of the course, site visits to projects designed by renowned local architects are organized. The visits give special importance to the student’s individual spatial perception, and how can it be represented in drawings. The objective is to demonstrate that the same object and space can be understood and interpreted from different points of view. This article synthesizes the history of this initiative, exposes the way in which the program is run, as well as it highlights the results obtained to date.
