La creación de la Plaza Nueva con su Casa Concejil y Consular en San Sebastián

    Se presenta una investigación sobre la formación, entre 1714 y 1722, de la Plaza Nueva de Donostia-San Sebastián, mediante el vaciado de un espacio central en su tejido urbano “intramuros”. Se aportan datos inéditos sobre las causas, circunstancias y desarrollo de su creación. La Plaza con su Casa Concejil y Consular, y las casas que la circunvalan, se edifi caron siguiendo el diseño del arquitecto e ingeniero militar, natural de Pavía, Hércules Torelli.

    1714 eta 1722 artean “harresi barneko” hiri-ehunean espazio zentral bat hustuz gauzatu zen Donostiako Plaza Berriaren eraketari buruzko ikerketa bat aurkezten da hemen. Sorreraren arrazoiei, inguruabarrei eta garapenari buruzko datu argitaragabeak ematen dira. Plaza, kontzeju-etxea eta kontsuletxea, eta inguratzen duten etxeak, Paviako arkitekto eta ingeniari militar Hércules Torelliren diseinuari jarraikiz eraiki ziren.

    We present in this work our research about the formation, between 1714 and 1722, of the New Square of San Sebastián, by emptying a central space in the urban fabric “intra-walls”.

    Unpublished data are provided on the causes, circumstances and development of its creation The square, with its City and Consular Hall and the surrounding houses, was built according to the design of the architect and military engineer, Hercules Torelli, from Pavia, Italy.
