Veteranos, Baby boomers, Nativos digitais, Gerações X, Y e Z, Geração Polegar e Geração Alfa: perfil geracional dos atuais e potenciais usuários das bibliotecas universitárias

    This article aims to present the result of a literature review carried out around the terms used to characterize the generations, especially those that are part of the university community, since the focus of this article is to understand the characteristics and behaviors of this group of users in order to understand the real needs of academics regarding the use of information services of University Libraries. The theoretical research used national and international databases in the search for articles without a time interval. The terms found to classify the generations were: Veterans, Digital Natives, Thumb Generation, Millennials, Z, Y and X Generations, Baby Boomers and Alpha Generation. An importante characteristic of university students is that they were born in the world of the web or cyber connected and do not know any other way to carry out their activities and relate other than through connection. Thus, University Libraries need to understand in depth the characteristics, needs and behaviors of these users in order to develop innovative information services that go beyond the needs of the informational desires of this generation.

    Este artigo apresentao resultado de uma revisão de literatura realizada em torno dos termos utilizados para caracterizar as gerações, em especial, aquelas que fazem parte da comunidade universitária. O foco da pesquisa foi entender as características e os comportamentos desse grupo de usuário com o objetivo de entender as reais necessidades dos acadêmicos no que consiste na utilização dos serviços de informação das Bibliotecas Universitárias. A pesquisa de caráter teórico utilizou-se de bases de dados nacionais e internacionais na busca por artigos sem intervalo temporal. Os termos encontrados para classificar as gerações foram: Veteranos, Nativos Digitais, Geração Polegar, Millenions, Gerações Z, Y e X, Baby Boomers e Geração Alfha. Uma característica importante dos universitários é que a maioria já nasceu no mundo da web ou ciberconectados e não conhecem outra forma de realizar suas atividades e se relacionarem que não seja por meio da conexão. Dessa forma, as Bibliotecas Universitárias precisam entender em profundidade as características, necessidades e os comportamentos desses usuários de modo a desenvolver serviços informacionais inovadores que vão ao encontro das necessidades e dos desejos informacionais dessa geração.
