Durante los siglos XVI y XVII llegan a España numerosas noticias de los países situadosen el lejano oriente, lo que da origen a una corriente informativa formada por libros divulgativos ycartas de religiosos. Entre las órdenes religiosas españolas que difunden el evangelio en aquellospaíses, se encuentran los franciscanos. Algunos sufren martirio en las tierras del Japón.

During the 16th and 17th centuries, news from far-eastern countries arrive to Spain. Thisgives way to an informative current of several books and letters of monks about the far-east. Amongthe Spanish religious orders that spread the gospel in those countries, we find the Franciscans. Someof them suffer martyrdom in Japanese territories.
