    El propósito de este artículo es develar el impacto que tiene el uso de los materiales didácticos en la enseñanza del idioma inglés en los estudiantes de educación básica de la unidad educativa “libertad” 2021.  Para el aprendizaje significativo de los estudiantes de educación básica de esa institución, donde se ha observado un bajo nivel de aprendizaje del idioma inglés en los estudiantes que ahí se están preparando durante las clases se ha observado algunas debilidades dado el poco uso de este recurso, siguiendo a Littlejohn y Windeatt (1989) y Breen y Candlin (1987). Se pone un énfasis especial al modelo de Stern (1989, 1992) como marco no sólo para los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje sino también para la selección de materiales y su diseño. Por último, se describen algunas características fundamentales que deben reunir los materiales para la enseñanza del inglés en Ciencias de la Educación y una serie de ejemplos prácticos, los cuales hay que desarrollarlos para que el aprendizaje tenga un mayor éxito.

    El artículo revisa las funciones principales de los Materiales Didácticos para la Enseñanza del inglés y su importancia en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje como mediadores entre los profesores y los alumnos es decir se crea un nexo entre ellos. El material didáctico sustituye a la realidad y trata de representarla de la mejor forma posible, facilitando su objetivación.

    The purpose of this article is to reveal the impact of the use of didactic materials in the teaching of the English language in the students of basic education of the educational unit "libertad" 2021. for the significant learning of the students of basic education of that institution, where a low level of learning of the English language has been observed in the students who are preparing there during the classes, some weaknesses have been observed given the little use of this resource, following Littlejohn and Windeatt (1989) and Breen and Candlelin (1987). Special emphasis is placed on the Stern model (1989, 1992) as a framework not only for teaching and learning processes but also for the selection of materials and their design. Finally, some fundamental characteristics that the materials for teaching English in Education Sciences must have and a series of practical examples are described, which must be developed in order for learning to be more successful.

    The article reviews the main functions of the Didactic Materials for the Teaching of English and its importance in the teaching and learning processes as mediators between teachers and students, that is, a link is created between them. The teaching material replaces reality and tries to represent it in the best possible way, facilitating its objectification.
