    En este artículo se reseñan las posibilidades y limitaciones que los padrones e informes de las revistas a los pueblos de los indios presentan para el estudio de la demografía y la sociedad indígena altoperuana en el periodo borbónico. Esta documentación proporciona información inestimable para analizar las innovaciones instituidas por la administración borbónica en materia tributaria y de control de la población indígena, así como su grado de incidencia real. Si el tributo era el principal nexo político y económico entre el Estado y las comunidades, podemos decir que la revisita instituía simbólicamente la confirmación y renegociación de ese pacto: el dejarse contar, el aceptar la obligación del pago del tributo y del trabajo mitayo y el recibir, a cambio, las tierras otorgadas para ser usufructuradas por los miembros de la comunidad.

    In this article are reviewed the possibilities and limitations that the registers and information from the magazines to the Indians towns publicate for the study of the demography and the altoperuana indigenous society in the borbonic period. This documentation provides inestimable information to analyze the innovations by the borbonic administration in tributary matter and control of the indigenous population, as well as its degree of real incidence. If the tribute were the main political and economic nexus between the state and the communities, we can say that the revist will institut symbolically the confirmation and renegotiation of that pact: letting itself count, accepting the obligation of the payment of the tribute and the work mitayo and receiving in return, the granted earth to be usufructurated by the members of the community.
