  La conducta delictiva juvenil se ha convertido en un tema de candente actualidad, siendo habitual encontrarnos a diario en los medios de comunicación noticias que hacen referencia a delitos cometidos por menores y jóvenes. Se habla de un aumento de los delitos cometidos por menores, lo que ha generado una gran alarma social en las últimas décadas. Además parece que estos delitos han aumentado en gravedad y son cometidos en edades cada vez más tempranas. Todo ello está contribuyendo a cuestionar aún más la L.O. 5/2000 de Responsabilidad Penal de los Menores, por la sensación de impunidad de las infracciones cometidas por los menores, a pesar de que las sucesivas reformas a las que se ha visto sometida la han hecho progresivamente más restrictiva. Con el objetivo de profundizar en el conocimiento de este grave problema social y comprobar si efectivamente se han producido cambios en la naturaleza de la conducta delictiva de los menores, en el presente trabajo se han analizado un total de 456 expedientes de menores infractores archivados en el Servicio de Justicia Juvenil de la Delegación de Justicia y Administración Pública de Jaén. Se registraron los delitos cometidos por menores desde que entró en vigor la L.O. 5/2000 hasta 2007. También se analiza la frecuencia de delitos cometidos durante este periodo y la evolución por años de los tipos de delitos. En los análisis también se incluyen las diferencias en función del género y de la edad de los menores infractores. Se discuten los resultados encontrados

  The juvenile criminal behaviour has turned into a burning topic, being common to find daily in the every days news that have children and youngsters as protagonists, who commit criminal and anti-social behaviours. It is said about the increase of the crimes committed for juveniles, which has generated, in the latest times, a great alarm in the society on the whole. Furthermore, it seems that theses crimes have become more serious and they are committed by younger and younger juveniles. All this is contributing to question even more the Organic Law (O.L.) 5/2000 Regulating the Juveniles´ Penal Responsibility, due to the sensation of impunity for the crimes committed by juveniles, despite the successive modifications have made the current Law more and more restrictive and punitive. With the objective of deeper into the knowledge of this serious social problem and to prove if there have really been changes in the nature of the young offenders´ criminal behaviours, in this paper a total of 456 closed judicial files from the Service of Juvenile Justice in Jaén have been analyzed. The crimes committed by young offenders were registered, since the moment when the current O.L. came into effects to nowadays. It is also analyzed both the frequency of crimes committed during this period and the evolution by year of the types of crimes. In the analysis are included the differences according to the gender and the age of the young offenders. The results are discussed.
