  Cuando se habla de Sistemas de Informacio?n Turi?stica (SIT) pueden encontrarse muchos enunciados y la gran mayori?a enfocados a la informa?tica y las nuevas tecnologi?as de la informacio?n y las comunicaciones. Por lo que en la actualidad los sistemas de informacio?n turi?stica han logrado posicionarse como uno de los principales motores para la toma de decisiones. En el Canto?n Puerto Lo?pez de la provincia de Manabi?, se realizo? un estudio descriptivo con el objetivo de analizar los componentes del sistema de informacio?n turi?stica, que permita conocer la situacio?n actual y las potencialidades de crear un sistema que ayude a mejorar el desarrollo de la actividad turi?stica dentro del canto?n. Se utilizaron te?cnicas como la entrevista semiestructurada a informantes claves, el ana?lisis de documentos, la observacio?n y me?todos estadi?sticos. Los resultados obtenidos en el proceso de investigacio?n demostraron que dentro del canto?n no se cuenta con un sistema de informacio?n que regule la actividad turi?stica, y el cual ayudari?a a mejorar los ingresos y generar empleos. Finalmente se concluye que la creacio?n de un SIT dentro del canto?n Puerto Lo?pez ayudari?a a mejorar el desarrollo local y fomentari?a en gran porcentaje el aumento de los visitantes.

  When talking about Tourist Information Systems (SIT), many statements can be found and the vast majority focused on information technology and new information and communications technologies. Therefore, tourism information systems have managed to position themselves as one of the main engines for decision making. In the Puerto Lo?pez Canton of the province of Manabi?, a descriptive study was carried out with the objective of analyzing the components of the tourist information system, which allows to know the current situation and the potential to create a system that helps improve the development of the tourist activity within the canton. Techniques such as semi-structured interviews with key informants, document analysis, observation and statistical methods were used. The results obtained in the research process showed that within the canton there is no information system that regulates tourism activity, and which would help improve income and generate jobs. Finally, it is concluded that the creation of a SIT within the Puerto Lo?pez canton would help improve local development and encourage a large percentage of visitors.
