Son abundantes los trabajos que se han producido en los últimos tiempos sobre la monja neogranadina Francisca Josefa de Castillo, pero ahora pretendemos sustraer de su obra el modo en el que se desarrollaba la vida del monasterio de Santa Clara de Tunja en ese tránsito entre los siglos XVII y XVIII. Costumbres, uso del espacio, convivencia, interferencias del mundo exterior, y todo aquello que nos acerque a lo que era la vida monacal, en la que pasó la vida una de las grandes místicas de la historia del cristianismo, y cómo la concibió ella misma.

Much has been written in recent times about the nun from New Granada, Francisca Josefa de Castillo. However, the aim here is to extract from her work the kind of monastic life that was led in the monastery of Santa Clara de Tunja at the turn of the 17th to the 18th century; the customs, use of spaces, social coexistence, and interference from the outside world. In fact, everything that can bring us closer to understanding the monastic life of that time, in which one of the great mystics of the history of Christianity lived and how she herself perceived that life
