Resumen de Experiencias migratorias de sirio-libaneses en la Patagonia septentrional (1900-1955)

Se ofrece la síntesis de una investigación de largo aliento sobre trayectorias de inmigrantes sirio-libaneses en la Patagonia septentrional, durante la primera mitad del siglo xx. El trabajo se ubica en la intersección de los estudios migratorios, la ocupación del espacio, las acciones de los agentes estatales y las relaciones entre inmigrantes, indígenas y criollos. Se propone historiar a los bolicheros árabes superando las lecturas moralizantes que han predominado, indagando criterios que ayuden a explicar la eficacia de su ascenso socioeconómico. A partir del estudio de biografías de comerciantes sirio-libaneses, se avanza en generalizaciones o formalizaciones de sus experiencias migratorias.

A synthesis of a long-term research on the trajectories of Syrian-Lebanese immigrants in northern Patagonia, during the first half of the 20th century, is presented. This work is located at the intersection of migratory studies, the occupation of space, the actions of state agents and the relations between immigrants, indigenous population and creoles. It is proposed to build a history of the Arab bolicheros by overcoming the moralizing interpretations that have prevailed, investigating criteria that help explain the effectiveness of their socio-economic rise. From the study of biographies of Syrian-Lebanese traders, progress is made in generalizations or formalizations of their migratory experiences
