L’article analitza 2Co 3,18 en el seu context, amb la voluntat d’oferir una interpretació coherent d’un verset que és especialment ric i complex alhora. Segons la nostra lectura del text, Pau afirma que els apòstols resplendeixen amb la glòria del Senyor, perquè són servidors de la nova aliança, que és permanent i definitiva; en canvi, l’antiga aliança era provisional i caduca, i per això la glòria que resplendia en el rostre de Moisès era limitada i efímera. La nova aliança va associada a Crist, imatge de Déu, i a l’Esperit, que Déu ha posat en els cors dels creients, els quals d’aquesta manera són transformats i participen de la glòria del Senyor. En l’argumentació paulina ocupa un lloc important la reinterpretació d’Ex 34,29-35, i concretament de la referència a la glòria que resplendia en el rostre de Moisès i al vel amb el qual se’l cobria. Pau, rellegint com sempre l’Antic Testament a la llum de Crist i de la nova aliança, remarca la dignitat i la credibilitat del ministeri apostòlic.

The article analyses 2Cor. 3.18 in its context, with the aim of proposing a coherent interpretation of a verse that is particularly both rich and complex. According to our reading of the text, Paul states that the apostles shine with the glory of the Lord, because they are servants of the new covenant, which is permanent and definitive; in contrast, the old covenant was provisional and is now obsolete, and that is why the glory that shone on Moses’ face was limited and transient. The new covenant is associated with Christ, the image of God, and with the Spirit whom God has placed in the hearts of believers, who are thus transformed and who participate in the glory of the Lord. The re-interpretation of Exod. 34.29-35 plays an important part in Paul’s reasoning, specifically the mention of the glory that shines on the face of Moses and of the veil that he covered it with. Paul, reading the Old Testament as usual in the light of Christ and the of the new covenant, underlines the dignity and credibility of the apostolic ministry.
