Resumen de Arqueología de lo (im)posible: las ruinas del ex Cuartel Borgoño (Chile, 1977-1989)

Tomando como caso paradigmático la experiencia dictatorial chilena (1973-1990), y con el uso combinado de fuentes: materialidad, testimonio y experiencia, se expone la trayectoria histórica y memorias en juego del ex Cuartel Borgoño (1977-1989). Un edificio que a lo largo del siglo XX albergó a diversas instituciones públicas, hasta funcionar como uno de los principales centros secretos de detención, tortura y exterminio. Con la transición democrática, fue traspasado a la Policía de Investigaciones y es durante la segunda demolición de los inmuebles, promovida por esta entidad, que comienza la lucha por recuperar el lugar y la activación de los procesos de memoria. Así, Borgoño como ruina, da cuenta de una arqueología de lo (im)posible que se enraiza, en la superposición de los contextos de ocupación del Cuartel y sus materialidades, que atestiguan tanto las marcas presentes de un sistema científico y siniestro, así como las experiencias de los sobrevivientes y la continuidad de la violencia estatal. Considering the paradigmatic case of Chilean dictatorial experience (1973-1990), and with the combined use of sources: materiality, testimony and experience, the historical trajectory and memories of the former Borgoño Barracks (1977-1989) are exposed. A building that throughout the twentieth century housed several public institutions, among them it functioned as one of the main secret detention centers, torture and extermination during Chilean dictatorship. Later, along with the democratic transition, it was transferred to the Investigation Police Agency, and during a second demolition of the buildings, promoted by the same institution, begins a fight to recover the place and a process of memory activation emerges. Thus, Borgoño as a ruin, reveals and an archaeology of the (im) possible takes its root, in the superposition of the contexts of their occupations and its materialities, which attest both the present marks of a scientific and sinister system, as well as the experiences of survivors and the continuity of State violence.
